Can Item Category group be configured per sales org distribution channel

Hi,

We use SAP IS-Retail. The item category group NORM is defaulted for the article type FERT which automatically shows up on the Basic data view and also on the sales view for a sales org/dist channel. When I wipe out the Item category group from the Basic Data view and save the article it still remains as NORM in the sales view. What I'd like to know is anywhere in the config can Item category group be defaulted per sales org/dist channel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Srinivas

Thanks Sivanand for a quick reply. Our client has a requirement where they want to maintain a custom item category group for a specific sales org /dist channel combination in the Sales View of the Article Master. Now that I came to know it can only be defaulted per article type, we may have to mass update the articles with the custom item category group at the required sales org / dist channel combination. I still have one more question on the same topic. I think it might be little bit different in the IS - Retail world but this is how it's working now. I've article 12345 whose article type is FERT and in the Basic data view of the article the item category group is defaulted to NORM based on the config. The article has been opened up for sales org 1234 / dist channel 11 and the item category group has been copied from the Basic data view as "NORM". I saved the article. Now, I go to the article in the change mode and clear off (wipe out) the Item category group from the Basic data view and saved the article. When I come back and open up the article for the sales org 1234 / dist channel 11, the item category group still says NORM and has not been wiped out. Do you know from where it's getting the value?

Thanks,

Srinivas

Hi

As furnished by Siva , the item category group is taken on the basis of article type as per IS-Retail / IN normal terms the material types. You can check out with the configuration for article types and try to change it there and check out for changes again .

Item category determination = sales doc type + item category group+ usage+ (itenary) higher level item category.

Check out for these settings properly as its no where related to sales org/dist chnl.

Goto item category determination and try to find out this combination for which you are doing and take out NORM there and then try to check it with the article master. I Believe this should work out.

Revert if you have further queries

thanks

Hi there,

Try this. Define a custom item catg grp for eg ZNORM. Anyway item catg grp is maintained in Sales org 2 view. So for your particular sales org for eg 1000view in MM02 maintain the custom item catg grp ZNORM. Like mentioned earlier, maintain the default material type - item catg grp assignement in SPRO.

In MM02--> Sales org 2, in field Item catg grp maintain ZNORM. In general item catg grp maintain NORM.

During item catg determination system will pickup the ietm catg grp maintained in MM02 --> item catg grp.

In VOV4 maintain the below setting: OR / ZNORM --> ZTAN. So when you raise a sales order in 1000 sales org, item catg ZTAN will be proposed.

Chec if it works.

Sivanand.

Hi there,

Item catg grp is not based on a sales org / dist channel. In item catg determination, system will pickup the item catg grp maintained in Sales org 2.

Pls do note that Item catg determination is based on Sales order type / item catg grp (from material master) / usage.

So no where item catg grp or item catg is dependent on sales org.

Reason being a NORM can be a material type FERT, HAWA, HALB etc. You will maintain that assignment in SPRO --> SD --> Sales --> Define default material types.
