Error during backup

Hi All,

our server runs on ECC6 with Oracle 10.2 on HP-UX,

when i was trying to take online backup backup is terminating with errors, giving error.

BR0278E Command output of 'LANG=C cd /oracle/MDS/sapdata1/sr3700_1 && echo sr3700.data1 /usr/sap/MDS/SYS/exe/run/brtools -f detach LANG=C cpio -ovB > /dev/rmt/1mn':

(Using tape drive with immediate report mode enabled (reel #1).)

"sr3700.data1": Value too large to be stored in data type

cpio: Size of sr3700.data1 > 2GB. Not dumped.

BR0240E Size 5120 of saved/restored data is different from the size 3271565312 of file/save set /oracle/MDS/sapdata1/sr3700_1/sr3700.data1

i have check the file initMDS.sap, and read all the backup logs on OS /oracle/MDS/backup

what could be the reason & neccesary action to perform.

Has anyone met the same error before.

Hi Ravi,

The problem has been solved , backup finished succesful , but unable to backup Archive logs,

i have chossen whole online + Redp log backup.

error is givving, may be the disk is full

but am using ultrium 4 1.6 TB and our database is 110 GB

error is :

BR0030W BRARCHIVE summary log '/oracle/MDS/saparch/archMDS.log' not found - this will probably influence the volume management

BR0019W Volume size or disk capacity reached - not all offline redo log files will be saved

any idea reagring this. Shold i format the tape & scedule backup again.

in DB12 its showing last succesful backup 18.07.09

overview of redolog backup - not yet backed up : 300

What i feel is

lack of Disk Space.

1st go for backup of the archive logs then increase the capacity to allow complete archive Logs to be saved to disk.

hi,

For ultrium use tape_copy_cmd as 'dd' instead of 'cpio' also check the block size and compression method.

Hi Al,

i have made the changes, backup finished succesfully.

but some warnings, for which the backups has been "Success with warnings"

let me try first, if the problems solve, i reply back.

Set the tape_copy_cmd = DD in the init<SID>.sap profile and then try.
