Dear All,

Our customer need to export files to wordl and PDF. What should be the path of the folders in General Settings?

I cannot see any folder I can use in B1_SHR.

Should I use a local folder or a share folder? Thanks.

Regards

Yuka

Are you sure it was there before upgrade? If that is the case, better log a support ticket. Hope the problem can be fixed. Otherwise might be a bug. Need to wait for the latest PL to get rid of the problem.

I am not 100% sure. After I upgrade our customer to SAP2007, I have to change the path in General Settings. We have B1_SHR instead of SBO_SHR. And no Attachment, WordDocs, and Bitmap in B1_SHR. Only ExclDocs folder.

I shared Attachment, WordDocs, and Bitmap folders on the server then setup it in General Settings. Is that ok? I cannot force everybody install SAP client on the same path. Thanks.

That is ok. However the shared folder path should be better no change at all from initial installation.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is, we didn't change anything. SAP2005 has a shared folder SBO_SHR. However, there is no more ...\SAP Manage\SAP Business One\SBO_SHR in SAP2007. They have ...\SAP\SAP Business One Server\B1_SHR instead. No more SAP Manage folder at all for new installation.

When we are in 2005, we have the default folder of B1_SHR. I am afraid the SBO_SHR folder might be from very early installation or have some other reasons. How long has this B1 installed?

Long time ago I guess. I just want to make sure if there should be any other folders under B1_SHR. I only have B1DIAPI, B1is, Client, Copy Express, ExclDocs, and Help folders.

By the way, what is the folder Client for? Is is the client installation file? Do we need any username and password for it? I remember our customer tried to install it on a workstation. However, wherever the file is (on the server or on the workstation), it keep asking some password. Thanks

The Client folder is for the client installation file. If it keeps asking password, that means the user has no right to this folder. You have to allow the user full access to the folder in order to install directly from that folder.

Does it mean, we cannot copy it to the workstation? Thanks.

You can if you have read right at least.

We tried to copy the client folder to workstation but it keep asking the same question.

That means you don't have any rights on that folder.

We copy the file to local machine. Then we tried to install it. We got the same problem.

If we copy the file to local machine, should we need any right on the shared folder? Thanks.

If you install from local, the password asked would be for SQL Server database. You must have right to the DB either by Trusted Connection or direct DB rights.

Hi Jie,

The path of the folder in General Settings are common in All the workstation.

The path should be the always *
SERVER NAMe\B1_SHR*

Microsoft Word Templates Folder :
Server Name\B1_SHR\word\English\

Microsoft Excel Folder :
Server Name\B1_SHR\ExclDocs\

Pictures Folder :
Server Name\B1_SHR\BitMaps\

Attachments Folder :
Server Name\B1_SHR\Attachments

*Close the thread if issue solved.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is, B1_SHR folder only has ExclDocs folder. Other folders are in ..\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One

In this case, make sure the path exist in this workstation and make sure the user has full right to the folder.

Thank you for the reply. I was wondering why we don't have attachment, bitmap, excelDoc folders in B1_SHR? It was there before. But after upgrading, I cannot find it anymore. I cannot ask everybody install SAP client on the same path.

This change has to be controlled by a super user. None of normal user should be given such authorization.

Thanks for the reply. My question is, what should be the general settings for the paths?

If one workstation has SAP installed on C drive, the other installed on D drive, what should be the path in General settings?

The setting can only have one. Your best option is installing B1 to the same path. If not, try to define a user variable just like TEMP to unify the path.

You can use both. If the customer do not have enough user right to the shared folder, better use local.

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. The problem is, if some of them changed the default path, they won't be able to export the file.
