Configurable material (Material type KMAT) Item category issue.

The configurable material (material type KMAT) when entered in a sales order, the item category of that material will be greyed out automatically and not allowing us to change it.

Could anyone tell me what is the solution for this? (Should we change the program or user exit or configuration)

I mean I should be able to change the item category manually in the sales order for that configurable material.

Kindly check if Item Category Statistics group can be removed from the item Category in VOV7.

Hi,

Plese goto transaction vov4,here you need to select your order type say ex,OR,there you need to slelct the item category group which you have mentioned in Material master ex,0002 then in rightside you have option Default item category and manuall item category.

In your case only default item category will be there you need to enter the manual item category in vov4 and now you try to create saleorder you will able to select the manual itemcategory which you have mentioned in vov4.

Go to VOV7 & check if in Bill Of Material / Configuration >Configuration Strategy ,any value is there , kindly remove and try again with a new fresh order.

Hi Srinivasan,

As per the standard functionality the item category field for Configurable material will be grey out thus not allow to carry out any changes, try exits for your requirement.
