Date Format

Hi Gurus,

I have a characteristic info-object (PROD_DATE) which is of type CHAR....(not DATS).

This characteristic is derived while loading data into the cube in update rules by using a simple calculation:

PROD_DATE = CREATEDON - 'Number of days'.

Where CREATEDON is of type DATS (referenced by 0DATE) and 'Number of days' is type CHAR..

The calculation works fine.

However, in the Report output, I am getting the PROD_DATE in the format YYYYMMDD.

The users want to see PROD_DATE in : MM/DD/YYYY format.

I tried using the formula variable with 'replacement path'...but because PROD_DATE is of type CHAR, it is not letting me select the 'dimension id' as DATE in the variable wizard.

Can anyone advise how I can solve it at the Query Level? That's in the front-end.

    I am not sure if it can be done since BW does not recognize the field of type date...

    you could try replacing the characteristic in the cube / dso with a date fielld or see if you can use a workbook and show the value in the format you need..? Not sure if there is an option to convert a characteristic value as a date in the query directly....
