Hi Gurus,
I created the SAP GUI installation server using NWCreateInstServer.exe. And I created SAP GUI Package with NWSAPSetupAdmin.exe. So far, everything works fine.
We are planning to push this self installer with the windows patches in the network.
My question is: Is there a way for us to figure out if the user has SAP GUI installed previously? The idea is to install the new version only if the user had an old version. Users who do not have the old GUI version (non-SAP users) dont need it anyways.
TIA
Sharada

We do not use the SAP GUI Deployment server, but SMS or other deployment software(That is taken care of by another department so I do not have 100% specific info).
However, I do know that when they are preparing to deploy, they run a script with that deployment software which looks at the file version of "C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\saplogon.exe" on all the workstations they are preparing to deploy to. If the file version is not what they want it to be, it is patched.
For example... If we wish to deploy patch 13 and everyone is at at patch 12... the file version would be something like 7100.3.12.1042. Any machine with that or lower would be upgraded to match 7100.3.13.1042. If it is a previous version such as 6.40, it is removed and the new installed.
Hope this helps somewhat for you...
Regards,
Zecher
