Extended Warranty fuctionality on SAP 4.6C

Hello Guys,

We are currently working on SAP 4.6 C version and our client wants to incorporate the functionality of extended warranty.

Please help me out in the configuration part.

*NOTE: I was going through the earlier post and found out that the T-code "OWTY" helps in configuring this provision. But this t-

code does not exit in TSTC table.* Does it mean that this functionality of extended warranty is not available on SAP-4.6C ???

Regards,

Sarthak

Hello

Configuration Path is as follows.

Plant Maintenance and Customer Service -> Maintenance and Service Processing ->

Notification Creation -> Notification Types -> Define Order Types and Special Notification Parameters

here w.r.t to service notification type set " Sales Document type = DR : Debit Memo request".

At notification with follwing menu path you can create request for debit memo.

Service Notification -> Create Sales Order -> Standard

This also updates document flow after creation of Debit memo.

Hello Sanjeev,

Sorry for late reply on this.

We have set a action plan for resolving the extended warranty and kindly check this and do reply back citing your comments.

We are basically planning to have a new doucment type for order having items with extended warranty and planning a create a

new z condition type for the material. Is it possible to record the duration of extended warranty in the order (e.g to have an

additional field (or window) for storing the duration)? How will the extended warranty be monitored thru system?

I have one more query on this --> Suppose we are providing extended warranty on a product lets say "XXX" and then we shall

be providing service for this product with in the new defined date range. Please explain how the FI related data can be hit.

Before punching the order for an item, the user should be notified that the particular item is under Ext warranty.

Option1: Include a Tab page with Zfields in Equipment master and maintain your Ext.warranty dates. Use Order save event user exit to populate/validate the extended warranty of the given item.

Option2:

Create a Service contract where Ext warranty dates as Contract start and end dates, system will show the Ext warr dates in Object information window of your item. Here you can get cost report during extended warranty period by settling the cost to the contract document.

Rest are same as your warranty case. Please let me know your observations and further queries.

Hello Sarthak,

You are right that SAP warranty claim mgmt can be compactible from ( SAP 4.7 + Addon set 2 ) . Afterward SAP included in ECC6.00 in Plant maintenance.

So your are not getting warranty claim mgmnt in SAP 4.6c.

But note that still "extended warranty processing" can be achieved as follows in 4.6c also.

--- master warranty

--- service notification

--- Request for debit memo

-

Debit memo
