can I link my custom workflow for write off approval process

I have a requirement of write off approval. Have to create a custom workflow with approval step .if approved the need to perform write off ,if reject thn no action need to perform.

I am new to this FICA module and workflow also.

Please guide me is it possible to link my custom workflow into the standard writeoff process.
