Hi,

I'm new to BO and need help on integrating Crystal Report with R3.

I'm just trying to get the data directly from R3 tables in Crystal Report, my question is, do I need to install BO Enterprise/Edge for the integration?

I have intalled SAP integration kit and crystal report.

Thanks,

Henry

Hi,

you need the BusinessObjects Enterprise system to share the reports with other users.

Thanks for your reply, Ingo

I need to show a demo of creating a crystal report using R3 data and I do not need to share the report.

Do I still have to install BO Enterprise/Edge?

that depends on what you want to show. if it is just the capability - not really. if you want to show the complete end user experience then you would need BOE as well.

Here is what I'm going to show to my audience:

I'm going to create a blank report, in database expert dialog, SAP table and cluster options should show up .

I should be able to expend the SAP table node and select a table to create the report, for example, purchase order table.

This is just a simple demo and I don't want to go through the complexed installation and configuration steps based on the integration installation guide. Can you help me on this?

correct- can be done without the server environment.

I have installed BO Integration Kit for SAP 3.1 and Crystal Report 2008 trial version.

I couldn't see the "SAP" menu on the start page of Crystal Report as mentioned in your blog.

Did I miss anything? Do I need to do specific configuration to see "SAP" on the start page?

HI,

did you install the SAP GUI with BW Add On on the client before installing the SAP Integration Kit ?

These were the steps I did:

1. install SAP GUI with BW 3.5 add-on

2. install Crystal Report 2008 trial version

3. install BO Integration Kit for SAP version 3.1 with "Client" option

I got two warning messages when installing BO Integration Kit:

failed to register C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\CrystalConnector.dll

failed to register C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\CrystalExtension.dll

I chose ignor for those warning mesages and it told me that Integration Kit has been installed successfully.

Then I opened Crystal Report and didn't see anything about SAP option on start page.

Please suggest.

Thanks,

Henry

Hi,

first of all the missing registration is "not good".

Go to the Add / Remove software and go to the point to add / remove items and check if the SAP Toolbar is selected as part of the client components.

Hi, Ingo

I was lost. Were you talking about the "Add/Remove Program" in windows control panel?

I tried the "Add/Remove Program" in windows control panel for BO Integration Kit and didn't know how to get to the point of "Add/Remove Items".

you can use the Add / Remove from Windows control panel or you can start the setup from the Integration Kit.

Hi, Ingo

The problem is finally solved. I acturally downloaded another version of BO Integration Kit (3.0) and it woks now.

I don't know why version 3.1 has this kind of problem.

Really appreciate your help. I just started reading your blog and need to catch up.

Best wishes,

Henry

did you make sure you always using matching versions ? when you use XI 3.0 from the Integration Kit you need to use XI 3.0 from the BOE server as well.

Meanwhile, I will just use Integration Kit 3.0 for Crystal Report demo purpose. I will try to unstall all the compoments after the demo and try version 3.1 again. If the same errors still come out, I will get back to this post.

Thanks,
