Pricing Date category in PO - Current date

Hello friends,

I have tested few scenarios for ‘Pricing Date category’ in PO and still did not come to conclusion. We have every month pricing for few Materials and there is an agreement with Vendor to have the latest price upon receipt.

I have activated ‘price date control’ in PO item level and I have also maintained with ‘3 – current date’ in both PO and PIR for these materials. Whenever a new PO is created, pr date category = 3 - current date and Price date = System date (current date (ex: 10-Oct-2016) are appearing from PIR. I think this is working normal.

As part of process, every month we are updating Material master prices and PIR prices for these materials. If there is no PO history for these Materials, we want to update the PO price by clicking on ‘Update button’ in condition tab. The PO was created in last month and Price date= 10-Oct-2016 is updated in condition control tab. If I click on update button in condition tab, latest price is not updating from PIR. I understand table level Price date = 10-Oct-2016 and I am trying to update price on 16-Nov-2016. Do I need to change price date =16-Nov-2016 before clicking on update button or it should work with previous dates?

If I try to do GR when pr date category = 3 - current date and Price date = 10-Oct-2016 in PO, GL postings are taking the price from PO and not the latest price from PIR. What would be my options to update the GL postings with latest price from PIR? Should I use "5- GR date" option instead of "3-Current date"?

I want to update current price from PIR in PO. I need your help to understand how "3-current date" will work for the old POs which are maintained with Price date category = Current date and Price date = Old date.
