SAP Applications on Blackberry

Hi All,

We are exploring the possibilities of developing SAP applications on Blackberry. We would like to know the infrastructure required?

For example, is SAP Mobile Infrastructure required if we just want to develop a online Mobile Webdynpro application that can be deployed on SAP WAS. Will Blacberry Enterprise Server and SAP WAS along with the Blackberry handheld not suffice for this sort of an online application.

Is SAP Mobile Infrastructure needed only in offline scenarios?

What all components does SAP Netweaver Mobile version come with?

Appreciate any help in answering these queries.

    Hi,

If you are trying to develop an always connected application BB then there is no need for MI.

You just need MDS and BB emulator installed on your PC.

    Hi,

There is a whitepaper on RIM website that explains how to develop Java applications : [BlackBerry Java Applications for Accessing SAP Applications|http://na.blackberry.com/eng/developers/started/develop/BlackBerry_Java_Applications_for_Accessing_SAP_Applications.pdf].

EDIT : I finally found another document which provides much more details, I don't know why RIM removed this document from their site : [Extending SAP Applications to BlackBerry Wireless Devices|http://www.mageed.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/extending-sap-applications-to-blackberry.pdf].

    Regards,

    Pierre

    Hi,

There are two scnarios to develop SAP mobile applications.

    1)Off line (Occasionally connnected)

    2)On line(Always connected).

For Off line Mobile Applications we use SAP Mobile Infrastructure,in which the data is stored ion client hand held device and the at the time of synchronization data wiil be send to SAP system..The latest version is MI7.1

Here is the architecture of MI.

For Always connected don't need MI.A hand held device with internet connection is enough.
