0ec_pca_3 Delta Extraction - zero records

We have a process chain. Every morning extractor 0ec_pca_3 runs. For some strange reasons, on Sunday, the job hangs for several hours. Ultimately we cancel the job. Data does not get lost, but included in Mondays run. I am wondering what could be the problem?

We had a similar issue about 1 year past. The SAP Help Portal, for the 0EC_PCA_3 DataSource suggests, to optimize data extractions with this DataSource a secondary index should be setup on the following source system table GLPCA fields:

RCLNT

CPUDT

CPUTM

Our first attempt, where we added this secondary index to GLPCA in the application via SE11, didn't work. We then added this index at the RDBMS level (Oracle in our case) and it worked perfectly.
