Safety stock planning in SNP- Examples

Hello All ,

We need to implement safety stock planning for a bunch of materials in APO. That is the safety stock has to be calculated based on the demand - supply situation.

I did go through help.sap.com and did a google search and got an understanding of safety stock methods and various safety stock parameters . But i could not find any document / article that explains how safety stock planning has to be executed and what settings are required for the same.

Could someone provide a link to some document that explains the various steps / setup required for safety stock planning

Hi Saradha,

I have identified an sap note 504253 which contains the detailed

documentation on standard safety stock planning methods:

SB, SZ, SM, MB, MZ, and MM within Supply Network Planning.

Hope this will note will resolve your query.

Thank you for the quick response. Actually the standard safety stock methods , are based on the value we specify in the lot size tab. That is we specify the value of safety stock. But my requirement is to calculate the value of safety stock. So i need to use the extended safety stock methods. Note 617567 has some info about this.

I shall try to simulate some scenarios in my test system . Thank you for all the help

Thank you for the immediate response Sujay. Acutally as i had mentioned in my previous message i did look at help.sap and sdn forums for step by step procedure on how safety stock planning is performed. But i could not find any useful link.
