CheckOut Exculsive/Non-Exculsive

Hi,

I am testing a scenario with checkIn and checkOut on records.

I have two users 1) Admin 2) User. Both are Administrative roles.

1) I frist logged as "Admin"

2) CheckOut exculsively a record

3) Modified Join perimission to add "User"

4) logged as "User"

5) joined checked out and modified the record

6) CheckIn later

7) And this modified record is finalised in data manager

I was able to do the same things by checkout Non-exculsively too the same way

when i was able to join for check out, modify and check in. What is real use of the checkout exculsively? what is the real idea of having checkOut exculsive and Checkout non-exculsive? Wondering ?!!? and 😔 confused lately

Some one clear my confusion please.

My guess is that when ever a CheckOut record Modifies the Join perimission to add user (In my case User) he is authorized to what ever he want to do based on role. Is that true?

Thanks

I am using MDM 5.5 sp6

    Hi

If User A does checkout exclusive, only he can allow other users to join the checkout process in his login.

If User A does checkout non exclusive, any one can join the checkout. No permission is required from user A from his login.

But in both these cases other users need to join the checkout process with their logins.

    hope this is clear.

    regards

Got it!. Exculsive or non-exculsive point is for addition of other users to join and not a point for editing, deleting of a record by that particular user directly.
