Hello

One possible cause for this issue is that you have a very long lead time for this product and you do not allow start in the past. In this case, MRP will use today as the start date for the new planned order and will run a forward scheduling to calculate the replenishment finish date. In this case, the finish date calculated may be in the future and you may have shortages within the lead time.

Another possible cause for this issue is a very long rescheduling horizon. In this case, a firm receipt in the future may be considered to cover those requirements and MRP will only trigger a rescheduling exception message. See this WIKI for details about rescheduling:

I see a receipt of 74625 in week 49, which should clear all the shortages.

Do you see any exception message for this receipt element in MD05? What is the start date of this receipt?

Can you post a screenshot of transaction MD05 showing the MRP elements?

There are many schedule lines with an end date on 05.12 and with a rescheduling message to the shortage dates.

As I mentioned earlier, whenever you have a long lead time and do not allow start in the past, you will have this kind of situation. If you check the planned delivery time in your material master, info record or scheduling you will probably find a long lead time here.

This is not an error at all, since your purchasing department cannot travel in time and start procurement for your material in the past 🙂

My suggestion for you is to teach your end users how to deal with this kind of situation and interpret the MRP exception messages.

It is very clear that negative values are not negative stock or any stock, it is requirement,it is the dependent demand for superior product. Say for example you need 4 tyres for a car. SAP will communicate to you that Tyre -4. which means Car is required 4 tyres. When running MRP planned order will be created. Please ensure planned orders are available.
