SAPOSCOL update via SAPHOSTAGENT

Former Member

Hi,

As of release 710, SAPOSCOL is run from library R3SAP400 if installed via the SAPHOSTAGENT SAR file according to note 1031096 and it's attachment that describes the procedure.

The library has the programs:

R3INLPGM *PGM CPPLE 7376896 11/14/07 20:44:41

SAPINIT *PGM 6762496 11/14/07 20:48:10

SAPOSCOL PGM 5885952 11/14/07 20:39:28

O4PRTLIB *SRVPGM 9330688 11/14/07 20:09:58

SAPINIT *JOBD 8192

My question is how to update these executables from a newer SAPHOSTAGENT.SAR file?

I would think it necessary to stop SAPSOCOL first, but what about stopping the active instances and is it necessary to run saphostagent -uninstall first?

Kind regards

Hello Michael,

You do not need to uninstall the saphostagent.

The update of the saphostagent is the same procedure as the installation.

So follow all steps in note 1031096 for IBM i. And Immediately before calling

saphostexec -install stop the saposcol.

The rest will be done automatically:

-The old jobs will end.

-The code will be updated

-All programs (including saposcol) will be restarted

Normally you do not have to stop all instances. This is only needed if the shared memory layout of saposcol has changed. But then all instances have to be patched too.

Hope this will answer your questions

Kind regards
