batch determination in delivery order for MTO scenario

Dear colleague

I want to know about batch determination of MTO(make to order scenario).

1. Create sales order with variant characteristics value
2. Create production order with batch number with reference to sales order
3. Create delivery order and determine batch number (batch number cannot be determined)
4. Create sales order stock
5. Change delivery order and batch number can be determined successfully

In our requirement, user want to determine batch number at the step.3 timing, because availability stock exist in this timing.
The availability check scope is actual stock and also planned stock (production order).
Is there any way to realize this?

thanks for your reply. I think that you meant automatic batch determination flag should be checked in delivery item category customizing.but i don't want to determine batch number 'atuomatically', we need to determine manually it.
