Message while opening .XLSX documents

Dear Experts,

I have checked in Excel documents with extensioin .xlsx in content server. While opening those documents I get the following message:

" The file you are trying to open,'~SAP{38F10040-37C2-A4DD-6A23F6A0D867}.tmp',is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"

Infact its just a information message, generated by Microsoft Excel, but surprisingly I dont get these messages for.DOCX files. In DC30 I have maintained the settings for *.xls and *.xlsx for excle and likewise *.doc and *.docx for word.

I am on WIndows Vista with MS office 2007 on my PC.

Can someone suggest me a way of getting rid of this message.

Thanks and Regards

Vinay

Hi Vinay,

the mentioned message from MS EXCEL is specific for excel only. This pop-up is not happening in MS Word for example and is due to the design of microsoft excel.

The reason for this is that if you display an original which is stored in DMS then the system has to create the temporary file in the user PC. For this the system takes generally the username and adds the maintained file suffix to it. But as you can only maintain a three digit suffix in DC30 the system will just add .xls extension. So the temporary file will be created like 'USER01.xls'

Please note that SAP Document Management generally support the file format of Office 2007. But due to the fact that this change in file format is a very new one and the latest SAP Releases ERP2004 and ERP2005 were released some time before, the customizing field was not enlarged to four digits. For further information please see also the SAP notes 1286768 and 1147660.

Best regards,

Christoph
