Timing of updaing database statistics

Hi, Gurus

What timing does BW update DB statistics of the physical tables in database of Infoprovider?

After every loading process, like DTP... , BW update this statistics automatically?

Or Should I set some options of Infoprovider?

Thanks

Hiroyasu

Hi,

You have to construct the database statistics after each load. In process chain there is process type 'Construct Database Statistics ' which you can use to generate the statistics. Keep the statistic as 10% (sap recommended).

Hoep this helps.

Hi

It's not clear to me that there is ANY connection between BW Statistics and Database Statistics. As has been stated earlier in this thread, Database Statistics are used "by the system" to optimise performance.

SAP also recommend setting DB Statistics sample collection to 100% for Infocubes with less than 10 million records.

... errr.... is it possible to change the sample rate for multiple cubes? I have a lot of cubes to change.

Hi,

Thank you for helpful answer.

But I mean... DB statistics is information used by database optimizer for selecting optimal access path of sql.

Please give me information about updating DB statistics from SAP BW.

Hiroyasu

DB Statisctics are also done using the same step.

Go to t.code RSDDSTAT, select your Infoprovider and switch on the statictics.

Then the stats wil start flowing and then you can get the trace info from tcode ST03.

Cheers,

Neel.

Hi,

To gather the statistical information for each infoprovider, you have to enable the BI Statistics option in the Data Warehousing Workbench, in the Tools-- Settings for BI Statistics.

And, you have to load this data to the Technical Content cubes (BI Statistics Cubes) frequently.

Hope, you will get some idea on it.
