Enabling Lifecycle Planning in IBP for Demand

Could use some help enabling Lifecycle Planning in IBP 1608. I've gone through the documented Prerequisites yet when I go into the Manage Product Lifecycle app I can't see or select any of my Planning Areas (blank list and says Invalid entry). What am I missing?

  • You have defined which attribute of the planning area represents the product ID. Selected PRDID.
  • You have set your planning area as the default planning area. Set this under User Preferences???
  • Recommended: You have defined which attribute of the planning area represents the product description and the product group. If you don't do this, the Manage Product Lifecycle app cannot handle descriptions or product groups for the products and the system uses the product ID instead. Set both.
  • Recommended: You have set the business meaning Actual Sales for one key figure of the planning area. Selected CONFQTY.
  • Recommended: Use a copy of the SAP6 planning area and adjust it if required. The SAP6 template planning area has been enhanced to fulfill all the prerequisites and recommendations. Am using a copy of SAP6.

Hi Ryan,

I am also facing same issue with Planning area not appearing in Product life cycle tile. Could you share which changes/setting helped you to solve this?

Regards,

Nawanit

Hi,
To answer to your second bullet point, yes, you have set the default planning area in the User Preferences app.
I think you did this already since the Manage Product Lifecycle app loaded. If you have missed this point you would have received a message in a dialog window, that you have to do this first.

Best regards,
Zoltan Biro.

Yeah, I have set a default PA under user preferences but that doesn't seem to have any impact. I've also tried changing the default PA to another SAP6 copy PA I have, but neither allow me to do anything inside the Lifecycle app.

I missed to change the default planning area setting in the user preference. Once done, it is now visible in Product life cycle.
