Failure to start print engine

I am running v.11 on my desktop. I just started attempting dynamic List of Values in parameters. I set the parameter up according to the help, but when I try to view it I get the following error:

Prompting failed with the following error messate: "List of Values failure: fail to get values. [Cause of error: Failed to start print engine.]"

I am connecting to a database on a server, but have never encountered an issue before I started using the dynamic parameter. Can anyone direct me in troubleshooting this?
