Dual stack Homogenous system copy with Database Specific Tools

Hi,

We want to refresh our QA system from produciton on a dual stack homogenous system copy using a combination of database specific tools and sapinst. The system is NW 2004s running Oracle on AIX. Both the production and QA systems have the CI and database on the same machine. The QA system does not have any app servers.

The plan is to export the Java portion from the production system using sapinst, restore the Oracle databases using RMAN and then import the Java export.

While this is a dual stack system, we only want to use sapinst to grab the non-database portion of JAVA. Should we use the following path?

Additional Software Life-Cycle Tasks -> System Copy -> Oracle -> Source System -> Central system -> Based on AS Java -> Database and Central Instance Export

Some of the documentation indicated that I needed to use orabrcopy before doing the export as well as run program SMIGR_CREATE_DDL. I did that but wonder if it was necessary since we are doing the database specific restore.

I started the sapinst import using a similar path, but it started prompting for what passwords to set in the database. What would be the appropriate path and options for the import?

Best regards,

Russ
