It appears that you are performing a Unicode install. As a result, you would need the other 6.40 kernel DVD, 51030772.

We are currently downloading the 51030772

I wonder why it is not avalaible for download in the same route SAP ERP 2004 > IDES-Version >Windows Server> Microsoft SQL-Server

Thanks for your Help

I´ve downloaded the media 51030772 but still is not working

The label.asc is MSSQL:AKK:6.40:DVD_UKERNEL:SAP Unicode Kernel 6.40 MS SQL Server:CD51030772

The error message is:

You entered G:Kernel_640_MSSQL_Server_UNICODE found the label MSSQL:AKK:6.40:DVD_UKERNEL:SAP Unicode Kernel 6.40 MS SQL Server:CD51030772 but need the label MSSQL:AKK:6.40:UKERNEL:*AMD64

Is something wrong with the label, am i doing something wrong?

Kind Regards for your help

It seems you're using a 32bit kernel DVD but installing a 64bit system...

Hello Markus

The installation we are trying to perform is NON-UNICODE for Intel Xeon 64bits architecture as recomended in this post, and tried to install a separate DB instance in the same host (Create New Database with Your SAP System ID SAPSID), but when asked for the Kernel disc the sapinst shows an error:

You entered: G:\Kernel_640_MSSQL_Server Found the label MSSQL:AKK:6.40:DVD_KERNEL:SAP Kernel 6.40 MS SQL Server:CD51030771 but need the label MSSQL:AKK:6.40:KERNEL:*.AMD64

The Media downloaded is:

51033746_15 Installation Master 6.20/6.40 Windows Server on x64 64bit

51030771 "CD NW04 SR1 6.40 SAP Kernel MSSQLSRV "

Yes - because you're not using the correct kernel DVD. You're using a 32bit Windows Kernel DVD instead of a 64bit one.

You need

51031282 CD NW04 SR1 6.40 (U) Kernel MSSQL Windows x64

Be aware that you must not install Java into this system and that it's not supported to connect any Java applications to non-unicode systems. New installations should always be Unicode.

Hello Markus,

I´m downloading the media you suggested, 51031282 , but since my conection is very slow it will take some time to complete.

This Kernel is UNICODE (51031282)?

Oliver Ruckober from SAP, wrote me

+ "Dear Customer

you installed the IDES ERP2004 with option unicode but this version of

IDES is the last non unicode version.

All IDES versions lower than IDES ECC 6.0 are NON-UNICODE systems !!

Regarding your advice

"Be aware that you must not install Java into this system and that it's not supported to connect any Java applications to non-unicode systems. New installations should always be Unicode."

I will install an ABAP only instance of the IDES (NON-UNICODE) in a separated DB instance

Kind Regards
