Multi Plant Production

Hi,

My company has 2 plants one in Canada and the other one in US. My company wants to manufacture a product in the Canadian Plant and then send it to the US Plant for testing.

How can I set this up in SAP?

I know I can change the Routing for the Canadian Plant for the product to include the Test Work center for the US Plant. But how can I transfer WIP from the Canadian Plant to the US Plant?

I also thought of creating 2 Products - A & B. Product A comes/manufactured from the Canadian Plant and then it gets transferred/transported to the US Plant where it is tested and becomes Product B. But Management does not like the idea of 2 different material numbers for the same product.

Please help me out with this issue.

I have give you the solution for this problem in PP forum.

Also note you can do this by another way. In routing define the the Testing option as External processing means sub-contracting.

and vendor as your testing plant. Then do the testing there and after that confirm the order in original plat so FG will produce in same plant.

Or you need to exclude the testing operation for routing then produce the FG then transfer the material from Plant to plant MB1B mov type 301 active the quality inspection to this mov type you can test it in another plant.

You can send it by standard stock transfer Process. But im not aware of the legal structure of US/Canada , in india if we are sending any WIP to some other plant , it is either by Payment of duty or under Job work.
