Hello all,
We are requested to intsall EhP3 (not EhP4) to existing ERP 6.0 system. Several queries
1. .EhP installer (EHPI) cannot be used for EhP3 and the only option is using SPAM/SAINT?
2. Would you suggest we put everything into a single queue or put into smaller chunk
3. Any tip to reduce downtime and/or speed up this process?
4. Is there any way of using the configuration file from SOLMAN's MOPZ - that way it is sure it is consistent with other landscape which already have EhP3 SP stack 04?
Thanks,
Terry

yes. Check SAP Note 1083533 - Installation of Enhancement Package 3 on SAP ERP 6.0
> 2. Would you suggest we put everything into a single queue or put into smaller chunk
Do it in single queue.
> 3. Any tip to reduce downtime and/or speed up this process?
Please see below extract from SAP note 1023533:
Number of parallel processes during the installation
You can reduce the duration of the installation by using parallel processing for several R3trans processes. Five parallel R3trans processes are known to be effective. We do not recommend several background processes for parallel processing of the method execution (otherwise, it may result in a termination as described in section 5). Ensure that you use the current versions for R3trans and tp (for more information, see Note 1110690).

You cannot use xml file for any other system. You have to generate new one.
Hope it helps.
Thanks

Hello,
Just bit not clear if EhPI can be used for EhP3 or just using SAINT. In note 1083533, the paragraph below 'exception 2' says
..... When you try to install EHP3 packages using the EHP installer (EHPI),
So can EHPI be used for EhP3 or not?
After I uploaded the pacakges, it shows EHP3 and EhP4 (since both are in EPS/in.)
Another unclear part - how to load the configuration xml into SAINT? There is already one for this system after doing the load packages, I don't see it.
Thanks,
Terry

ya, it is right but check below link:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/6461237/Enhancement-Packages-Technical-Facts
and in that it is mentioned that EHPI installer for EHP's is available from EHP4. (Check on page 27)

yes it is true because both are there in EPS/in

You can do this by going to transaction SAINT and then start ..There is a tab to add xml file.
Hope it helps

as of now - yes.

you can only use a single queue.

Use "Note 1309506 - SPAM/SAINT with parallel R3trans"

You can't copy an XML but you can generate a new one with the same patches as on your other systems. That can be uploaded in SAINT.
