MDG Change request archiving or deletion

Hey. We are trying to delete old requests from the system. In USMD_DELETE_CREQUEST there's a check

"Change request &1 was already activated and will not be deleted in live client"

Why is this important and what are the cosequences or deleting it after activation?

Are there any other options for archiving in MDG?
