Hi Friends
I am new to this Widgets. I read that we have a application called the BI Widgets for BO XI R3. I want to explore more on that and start using it in our organisation. We have Business Objects XI R3 server installed on the WIndows 2003.
I very recently installed the BI Widget application but cannot connect to the repository. It throws error "Connecting to URL is not responding".
Please help me in getting started. Thank you in advance.
Thanks and Regards,
Umesh Jadhav
Hi James,
Thank you again.
Since we have IIS installed as Web app server, we have CMC on the WACS. I can access the CMC through web using the URL like http://XXXX:6405/CmcApp/logon.faces. You have a URL which has "dswsobje" in it. What is this actually?
What is the web service you are mentioning?
Your help is Sincerely appreciated.
Thanks and Regards,
Umesh Jadhav

Hi Umesh
'dswsbobje' references the web services application - required for connectivity in Live Office, BI Widgets qaaws.
This is not officially supported by BO when hosted on the WACS server and isn't available as part of the default install.
Your best bet is to use a Java server to serve the web applications (widgets) e.g. Tomcat.
So to summarise, install tomcat and connect the BI Widgets via the tomcat instance. It builds the URL for you when you enter in the host details on the widgets.
Hello All,
I am another newbie to BI widgets. I have Edge 3.1 installed. I wanted to explore more about BI widgets.
I have downloaded the user guide too. But I don't know where to download the BI widget from? Please let me know as to where I can download this application from.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Shivkumar

Hi Shivkumar,
You can download the application from service market place available in the following path,
goto service.sap.com> downloads>sap installation and upgrades-->entry by application groups -> sap businessobjects portfolio --> sbop enterprise --> select version of BOE --> installation and select platform.
Best Regards,

Hi SK,
Thank you for replying.
I read this document. It does not tell you what to do when you cannot connect to repository.
Is it required to install application on the server side. I just installed the application on my desktop assuming that it will connect to the BO XI R3 repository as mentioned in the document.
Thanks and Regards,

What url are you using to connect to the web services?
The url for the web services app is by default:
http://<boeservername>:<tomcatport>/dswsbobje/services/session
e.g. http:/myboeserver:8080/dswsbobje/services/session
Hi Umesh,
IIS isn't supported for web services, only a JAVA app server is.
It is possible to host the web services on the WACS server but this isn't officially supported at present.
See this document:
