How system works for data extract default settings.

Dear Friends,

We are using BI7.00. For one of our data source since the data volume is very high and the extraction time is also high, we want to change the parameters for data extraction. While browsing for help through this forum, i came up with the option of maitaining the values in the infopackage,

The following is the problem we face.

1) When i want to change the parameter, in the infopackage -> scheduler->Data.s default data transfer, we find the following entries by default under the section default settings in source system.

Maximum size of the data packet in Kbyte 20000

Maximum number of dialog processes for sending data :- 2

Number of data packets per info-idoc :-10

We could not understand where this value is maintained.

Moreover when i enter values of 5000,10 in the area below, system doesn't considers this.

We then maintained values in the customising SBIW transaction -> no change observed.

The log for data transfer shows as 18,832 records every time even if the parameters are changed.

Where is this setting made.

How system works and what are the areas where we have to maintain values for parameters to make system pull data quickly.

Can experts provide step by step guide for me to understand how system functions based on the set parameters.

Regards,
