Hello Experts,
Does 1709 Premise version has OOTB query browser( Analytical Queries) available?
I cannot see the query browser on the UI. Do i need to enable it at the backend configuration? Does it needs to be purchased as a separate license?
Thanks,
Mayank
Dear Mayank,
I am not sure if this will work but take a look if you have role SAP_MARKETING_ANA_SPECIALIST assigned to your user. This role gives permission to access Analytics and Reports Gallery. I also found role SAP_CEI_BI_AUTH related to reports.
Let me know if this works.
Best regards,
Luis.

Hi Luis,
With the below link, will it explains that it is authorization needs to be provided?
Thanks,
Mayank
I think it will work only, if you have Cloud Analytics connected.

Hi,
that's not correct, one can use CS Queries for Analytics also by means of the Design Studio, which gets opened from the Analytics and Report Gallery.

Hi Josef,
Could you elaborate on the Design Studio bit please?
A few months ago; there was still the following answer on another Question (https://answers.sap.com/questions/537414/custom-cds-view-in-reports-and-analytics-in-hybris.html)
---
Hi,
I got the response as follow:
Unfortunately, Design Studio still not available in On-Prem. Customers have to use the ABAP-Backend transactions to build custom queries. This needs to be done using ABAP in Eclipse. Currently we only support ABAB-based CDS in Marketing.
More details regarding On-Prem can be found in the following SCN Question https://answers.sap.com/questions/316344/analytics-in-hybris-marketing-on-prem.html
---
When I try to open Design Studio in my onprem system, I get a bunch of errors "could not instantiate planning service "". / Service Unavailable / Could not instantiate data source "DS_1" for query ...
And I can't find much more documentation about prerequisite setup for onprem.
With the above answer I just assumed it was normal and Design Studio was not available for Onprem; but if it is, could you point me to the setup documentation so I can try to resolve my errors please?
Thanks,
Joyca
Hi Joyca,
you are right, in release 1709 design studio is not available yet, but it was added in 1709 SP01 together with the Analytics and Report Gallery.
KR, Josef
Hi,
please refer to the chapter New Application "Analytics and Report Gallery" (1709 SP01) and New Application "Analytics and Report Gallery - List" (1709 SP01) in the upgrade guide https://help.sap.com/doc/c71261fcb939441190a621df0f2d8cea/1802%20YMKT/en-US/loio0caa705127e05905e100...
Thanks, Josef
Thanks josef.ehbauer.
I guess I'll need to create a ticket then; as the upgrade guide only mentions to assign PFCG roles "SAP_CEI_KUA_FLP" and "SAP_CEI_EXT_CBO_SEG" and I have both (also generated; even SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW to make sure it's not authorization related).
(errors: Could not instantiate planning service "". and "Service Unavailable" and "Could not instantiate data source "DS_1" for query "2CCMKT_CMPGNSUCC3Q"." or similar for all queries/reports that I try...)
PS the upgrade guide mentions:
Note As a prerequisite for the use of the Analytics and Report Gallery - List, you must integrate SAP Analytics Cloud.
However, the Analytics and Report Gallery list contains a mix of SAC stories and reports that rely purely on internal data; so an integration is not mandatory, right? (also marketing cloud provides SAC licence; but marketing onpremise does not, or does it??)
Kr,
Joyca
Dear vervinckt.joyca ,
Were you able to set up the reports in your system? I am also on Onpremise 1709 SP01 and I get the same errors you mentioned (Could not instantiate planning service, Service unavailable, Could not instantiate data source "DS_1" for query "2CCMKT_INTERINTRQ", etc etc).
Could you tell me how you solved this? 🙂
Thanks a lot,
Luis.
Hi luis.paulino
I still have an open ticket at SAP for that one.
Today some replies came back and the current status is that it's web dispatcher related... Something related to the ports in the url.
For example: opening this query does NOT work:
But this DOES work:
(depending on the port configured for your https, see transaction SMICM and button services)
But I'm still waiting for the next steps and how to make this work without manually typing the port number.
I'll try to share what I understand from the solution, as web dispatcher is not my cup of tea 😛 but I think it might be some missing configuration from the basic setup regarding the web dispatcher though, and not a real bug...

Hello vervinckt.joyca ,
I had my technical basis consultant take a look at this and he figured it out! You were corrected about this being related to Webdispatcher. We added path /sap/bw onto ABAP connection in webdispatcher and now I can open all reports properly!
Pass on this information to your technical team! Hope it works for you as well 🙂
Best regards,
Luis.
Thanks Luis,
sorry I didn't reply earlier, busy times...
Indeed my basis colleage did something to the webdispatcher to fix this but I didn't really understand what he did so I couldn't write the exact solution here... just "webdispatcher something" 😄
Thanks for sharing your more detailed information!
