hdblcm.txtHi

I have struggled a lot with SAP HANA express streaming analytics installation on vmware workstation. I have no problem installing all the other components in the Express package. After running av while I end up with this error during the streaming installation:

Initialize streaming service... hdbsql HXE => ALTER SYSTEM INITIALIZE SERVICE 'streamingserver' WITH CREDENTIAL TYPE 'PASSWORD' USING '********' * 403: internal error: Initialization of Streaming Server hana:39049 failed: nameserver internal error;nameserver internal error; SDS server restart failed: nameserver internal error;Streaming Server hana:39049 could not be restarted in 300 seconds,Failed to restart SDS server hana:39049 SQLSTATE: HY000

Any tips ?

Hallo Petter,

I compared your installation log with my test installation:

1. You start the installation with sudo, which was not necessary because you are already logged in as "root".

2. the env. missing "HOST" and "HOSTNAME"

3. Because the hostname is missing, the installation does not complete successfully.

At the end of the log file there is "Skip":

21:11:11.687 - INFO: Found empty product 'SAP NEWDB 2.0'. Skipping...

Actually, you should have something like:

15:25:42.457 - INFO: Found product 'SAP NEWDB 2.0'.
15:25:42.457 - INFO: Found product instance 'SAP HANA Application Function Libraries'.
15:25:42.457 - INFO: Found product instance 'XS Advanced Runtime'.
15:25:42.457 - INFO: Found product instance 'SAP HANA database server'.
15:25:42.457 - INFO: Found product instance 'HANA EPM-MDS'.
15:25:42.457 - INFO:   Processing PD.XML in directory '/hana/shared/HXE/exe/linuxx86_64/hdb/plugins/epmmds'...
15:25:42.457 - INFO:   Parsing /hana/shared/HXE/exe/linuxx86_64/hdb/plugins/epmmds/PD.XML...
15:25:42.458 - INFO: Reading product information...
15:25:42.458 - INFO: Reading product instances information...
15:25:42.465 - INFO: Found product 'SAP NEWDB 2.0'.
15:25:42.468 - INFO: Found product instance 'SAP HANA PLATFORM EDITION 2.0: Enterprise Performance Management and Multidimensional Services'.

.....

So it seems that the installation / configuration of your operating system is not 100% correct.

Tips:

1. If you are using VM, try to use "Network Bridge" instead of "NAT" for the network.

2. Use a statically assigned IP.

4. check hostname with command "hostname"

3. Verify that your hostname is in the /etc/hosts file

I hope this will help you

Hi Ayman

Thank's for your answer. I will try a new installation tomorrow and add the settings you described 🙂 I will update this thread with the result.

After a quick look I can verify the following settings:

1) I have used Network Bridge

2) This was set to DHCP, I will test this tomorrow

3) after running the command hostname I can see name:hana, that is the same name used in the hostname file.

4) here is the hosts file:

127.0.0.2 hana hana

127.0.0.1 localhost

192.168.1.56 hana

# special IPv6 addresses

::1 localhost ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback

fe00::0 ipv6-localnet

ff00::0 ipv6-mcastprefix

ff02::1 ipv6-allnodes

ff02::2 ipv6-allrouters

ff02::3 ipv6-allhosts

Hallo Petter,

Regarding your comment on the FQDN (in another question) when installing Streaming Server:

In my test installation, I only enter the host name. (hxehost)

but in the /etc/hosts, make sure that you include the FQDN and host name (as I see, is missing in your /etc/hosts).

here my /etc/hosts:

127.0.0.1       localhost.localdomain localhost
::1             localhost ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback
fe00::0         ipv6-localnet
ff00::0         ipv6-mcastprefix
ff02::1         ipv6-allnodes
ff02::2         ipv6-allrouters
ff02::3         ipv6-allhosts
127.0.0.2       hxehost.fritz.box hxehost
192.168.17.55   hxehost.fritz.box hxehost

Also make sure that the name server and the gateway entry are correct.

....

Second, during the installation, I temporarily disable the firewall on my Windows (in addition to Linux Firewall) to make sure that no necessary port is blocked.

Here is the log from streamin installation. I see one line that may be the cause of the problem :

Hazelcast CANNOT start on this node. No matching network interface found. Any tips on solving this?

Hi Peter,

Please go to your /etc/hosts file and make sure host "hana" does not map to 127.0.0.2. Instead "hana" should resolve to a real IP. Streaming server needs a real IP it can bind to. You can check your IP with ifconfig -a.

Thank you,

Andrzej.
