Hi,
Would someone be willing to clarify the difference between the local and central (as a part of OER) implementation of AII? As a background example for context:
Let's say I had plants/DC/whse in Asia, Europe, and a headquarter in Canada all under a single instance of R/3.
1) If I were to implement OER centrally, are the local instances of Aii included under that "package" or are the local instances a unique license/implementation?
2) Are the SAP partner 3rd party solutions like xDDI, OatSystems, etc. more or less drop in "replacements" for the local Aii? When they speak of communicating with Aii, are they then communicating to the central Aii, or to local instances?
Effectively, the 3rd party solutions are then applying the business context/rules to read tag information, instead of local Aii, but expect that there is still a central instance of Aii. Most 3rd party solutions are also targeted toward a specific market, agriculture vs manufacturing, etc. in terms of rule-sets. Is that a fair generalization? Finding specific details on which components are performing which functions is a bit of a pain in this space.
Thanks.
