How to access browser based PI sheet

Dear Gurus,

How do we access browser based PI sheet?

Is it accessed thru SAP or do we have some interface?

I am trying to configure PI sheet... I can see Browser based PI sheet in process order but don't know from where do we access browser based PI sheet?

What is the difference in broser based PI sheet and ABAP based PI sheet?

Do we have a TCODE or is it accessed in some other way?

Regards,

Himanshu

Dear Himanshu,

after creating the recipie in COR2 send the recipie in CO53 and after this you can access the PI-Sheet in CO60.

ABAP-listbased PI-Sheet is the old version, the SAP recommendation is to use only browserbased Pi-Sheet and only this one is further developed. Abap-listedbased PI-Sheet is not develop further.

Hope this help.

Thank you Sabine,

Thank you for the information.

Standard SAP process is create control recipe in COR2 --> send control recipe in CO53 (can be automated using event triggered batch job) --> access PI sheet in CO60/CO58 and report data --> send process message using CO54 (can be automated using batch job).

This is standard process for ABAP based PI sheet.

Do we use the same process for browser based PI sheet also? Can we access browser based PI sheet in a browser (non SAP application)?

SAP library provides information on setting up browser for PI sheet and cockpits at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/4d/d72d3875b36020e10000009b38f842/content.htm

My apologies if I didn't frame question correctly and it was not clear... But I want to know how do we access PI sheet using a browser? Where do we maintain the settings?

Regards,

Himanshu

Hi Thombare,

I want to report data using browser based PI sheet....

C201/C202 is create/change master recipe.....

Moreover the link you have given directs to PPPI flow and includes only transaction codes.. no information about browser based PI sheet...

Sorry, but this didn't help.....

Thank You Abhijeet,

I've already gone thru the links that you've given. Infact, your first link is what my question is about (and i've given the same link in my reply to Sabine).... The link says how to setup browser in order to access browser based PI sheet....

[Setting up browser|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/ea/f97a38d1e71504e10000009b38f842/content.htm]

My question is how do I access PI sheet in a browser??

Can you help on this question.

Hi Himanshu,

Please try these steps and let me know the complete things that you have experienced.

Also plz let me know the problem that you are facing after doing all these steps.....

Define the control recipe destination, use the following menu path in the IMG

Production planning for process industries---> Process Management by choosing Control Recipes/PI Sheets -> Define and Set Up Control Recipe Destinations. Also try looking at sm59 for defining the RFC destination. Try to configure and then plz let me know

In the above activity set the destination type as " 4" - transfer to browser based PI sheet, This control recipe destination is an operating group for the R/3 PI sheet that is displayed in HTML layout on the screen.

There are few prerequisite for setting up browser based PI sheets with regards to internet explorer settings,

1.In the Internet Explorer menu, choose Tools -> Internet Options.

2.Choose the Security tab page.

3.Choose the Web content zone Internet.

4.Choose Custom Level ...

5.Make the following settings in the Security Settings dialog box.

Function Settings

Download signed ActiveX controls Enable or prompt

Launching programs and files in an IFRAME Enable

Navigate sub-frames across different domains Enable

To be able to best use the browser-based PI sheet, you must install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 and above make some security settings in the Internet Explorer.

You should have an XML converter PARSER software installed so that Browser based PI sheet is totally downloaded correctly.

Please let me know your final findings.

Hi Abhijeet,

thank you for input.

I've already done the configuration settings suggested by you. I have my PI sheet ready. If I go to transaction CO58 I can report data using PI sheet also. Sending process message to correct destination is also working fine. The system is updating goods issue/goods receipt data and creating mat/acc documents for example.

My question is......

How do I access the PI sheet 'which is already configured in SAP' through browser? I am referring to steps which you have given for setting up browser. Once this is done, what do I do after going to browser?

Do I enter some transaction code? Does system generate some URL which has to be used for accessing particular PI sheet?

I hope my question is clear now...

Hi Himanshu,

As far as i can say, i think you need to create a URL which will connect to the SAP server; as you need to configure the browser in the internet options wherein you need to add the URL and also the port number which will connect to the server.

You also need to check the compatibility of the browser if it really supports the functions. Sometimes it happens that IE6 or 7 might not support the functionalities, so you need to revert to lower versions of IE.

You need to take the help of a technical person who will assist you to connect to the server. As you already said that you have done all the config then this is something related to the browser settings wherein you need to give the correct details, so that it can upload the PI sheet.

Also let's have the say of those big SAP GURUS here at the forum. SAP gurus please correct me here if something is missing or wrong.

Hi Himanshu,

Have you ever got this resolved? I am also looking to display the PI sheet data in external browser. Pls advice if there is a way to generate URL from SAP or can we do this with the help of any third party tools.

HI

why you want to create URL and for what purpose , tell your purpose first then we can answer

Browser bases PI sheet does not mean that you can view this Sheet in the Internet .

This is not like creating an emial ID

Thanks
