What are the limits of HANA?

I have found

https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/

What is this good for?

I teach business informatics students and would like to teach the basics of ABAP programming. Is this the right free tool that I can use?

Your link is good for installing HANA studio on Eclipse. For it to work though, you need a HANA server. It's nothing to do with ABAP. To program in ABAP you need a SAP Netweaver (ABAP) stack. You can either program ABAP in eclipse using another plugin, or using the SAPGui (supplied with SAP Netweaver). All these things need back-end servers to work. You cannot program ABAP without a SAP Netweaver system.

At a recent graduation ceremony I discovered that I've been doing Business Informatics for over ten years. I also found that many of the Business Informatic PhD are essentially write ups of BI projects. I've done many BI projects, so I'd like my 5 PhDs please.

Welcome to SCN! I don't mean no disrespect but you chose a completely wrong tag for the question, then put one question in the title and two completely different ones in the actual post. Are you sure you are ready for teaching ABAP?

Read this book first, it also explains how to set up an IDES system.

    Good luck to your students!

"Are you sure you are ready for teaching ABAP?"

I did not say I will teach ABAP tomorrow, I am looking for ways to learn it and to use it.

If I understand correctly, here I can download NetWeaver and ABAP trial versions:

Thanks indeed, Jelena. The correct license for teaching it is on the way, but, as usual, it takes time for university bureaucracy. So, there is time to prepare.
