sapcpe.exe terminated with status -1 on phase MAIN_NEWBAS/MOD_INSTNR_POST

Former Member

While installing EHP4 for ECC6 on a dual stack system I am failing in the MAIN_NEWBAS/MOD_INSTNR_POST phase. Error sends me to toolout.log which has very little information.

What information we are finding in the logs indicate sapcpe.exe terminated with status -1 when copying to the shadow instance.

Any suggestions on how to proceed with this would be most appreciated.

Bill

Thanks for the reply - you have been very helpful with this upgrade.

I am pasting the contents of the last two logs created.

SAPehpiConsole.log

Checks after phase MAIN_NEWBAS/MOD_INSTNR_POST were negative!

Last error code set: Process 'sapcpe.exe' exited with -1, see

'E:\EHPI\abap\log\TOOLOUT.LOG' for details

01) * Repeat phase MOD_INSTNR_POST to continue at the point it stopped

02) - Exit this program

Choose action: Repeat phase MOD_INSTNR_POST to continue at the point it stopped

Hi Bill,

It looks like the kernel upgrade was not happend successfully...Could you please again do kernel upgrade manually and start the upgrade from point where it is stopped... If you face the problem again then give the log again with dev_w0 log from main instance...

Also, might be you know already that for EHP4 upgrade kernel release should be 7.01...

Thanks

Sunny

Check the logfiles sapcpe*.log in the upgrade log directory.

Hello

We have exactly the same error. Whats the solution there? We already made the kernel upgrade manually, but that didn't work.

Hi Bill,

is your problem solved?

We run exactly into the same error and this post seems to be the only one regarding this problem.

Could you please tell me what is to do in this case?

best regards

Hi All,

I solved the problem in a easy way...

Reboot the whole system ( incl . operating system ) an restarts the ehp4 installer and everything works fine.

Upgrade succesfully finished.
