Saved Voyager Workspace EMPTY on opening

Hi all,

Couldn't find anything on this particular problem I'm having. I've created a simple enough Voyager workspace on Enterprise from an already saved workspace(in the public folders), and saved it to my Favourites folder.

The problem is that when I try to open it, it's empty. That is to say that the crosstab is there but there's nothing in it. It's like the screen you get when you begin a new voyager workspace.

I tried it again since with a different name but now it just times out when I try to open it. Older saved workspaces are opening fine. I overwrote the workspace that times out with one that works and when I try to open it, it works fine. I'm flummoxed!!

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Dave

Hi,

I work in Tech Support and have seen this issue for a handful of customers in recent weeks. we are still in the initial rounds of reproduction efforts..

Please could you tell me -

1.what Internet browser type & version are you using?

2.what BOBJ Enterprise version (inc. FixPacks) are you using?

3.what OLAP datasource & version are you using?

4.Does the ADMINISTRATOR profile get this workspace problem?

5.Can you reproduce this using MS AdventureWorks demo source?

6.Does this problem happen if you save & retrieve the report to/from an Enterprise Folder (i.e. not the 'My Favourites' folder)?

7.Does the problem also happen If another user tries to open your workspace from the (Public) Enterprise folders?

Thanks for your help

Regards,

Henry

Hi Henry,

Many thanks for the reply. Answers to your questions as follows:

1) Internet Explorer 7

2) Business Objects XI R3. To my knowledge we've not installed any fixpacks.

3) Analysis Manager Version 8

4) Yes, the administrator profile also gets this workspace problem.

5) No, I cannot reproduce this problem using MS AdventureWorks demo source.

6) Yes, this problem happens when saving/retrieving to/from a Public folder.

7) Yes, this problem happens if another user attempts to open the workspace from the Public folders.

Since my original post I've been doing a little more step-by-step testing and I think I've pinpointed the problem.

The problem occurs when using the search function in a dimension. To be exact, my customers hierarchy includes an outlet code at the outlet level. To assist in selecting specific outlets I searched the relevant outlet codes within the dimension, rather than drilling through the dimension to find each outlet.

To be sure I saved two reports using each method.

1) Select dimension members using the search function : Saved report returns an empty crosstab on re-open.

2) Select dimension members by drilling through the dimension levels : Saved report re-opens correctly.

Hope this helps,

David
