I am a newb to Xcelsius. I am evaluating the software for purchase and building a demo dashboard for the executive group. I am using a locally running (on XP) IIS web server and have used the Flynet web services generator to create the web service connection to my SQL 2005 live server on our network. I created, in Data Manager within Xcelsius, the web service connection and built a little look into the database using a guage control to pull out total open work orders from our helpdesk. I exported it to a PowerPoint to view (also did this to a SWF flash and embedded it in a web page) both with a Error #2170 when it goes to retrieve the data.
I have searched on the forums and gather that there is a crossdomain.xml file needed. I created it and cut/pasted it into the file and placed it in the root of my IIS server. I still get the same error. Does the crossdomain.xml file go in a different location on a IIS server? Or maybe I am tracking another problem?
Any help would be appreciated!
Mike
Hi,
1)You need to place the Cross Domain Xml File in the root directory of the application Server: I
For example if its tomcat,(BusinessObjects/Tomcat/webapps/ROOT)
2) Stop the application server and restart the server.
Try to stop the server and restart it and see.
Thanks,
SK.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried that first based on my forum search on this error. I am running MS IIS, so I put the crossdomain.xml file in the wwwroot\ directory. I don't know if that is the as in the Tomcat location you mentioned though.
I did start and stop the IIS server with no change.
Anything else I can try?
Mike
Hi,
I also got the same error. we are using Tomcat application server and i followed the exact steps by placing the crossdomain xml file in the root directory as i mentioned and restarted the server. it worked out for me.
I think if business objects is installed in your system then the above procedure works for you.
Thanks,
SK.
