how to migrate back data source to BW3.x from BI7.0

Former Member

Dear Gurus,

In our development system one of our colleague migrated the MM data sources from 3.x to 7.0. When we create transfer rules, at data source assignment I cannot see these data sources in the list. Please help me to convert back to BW3.x from BI7.0 for these data sources. Do we have this flexibility?

Thanks

Ram

Hi Ram,

Recovery of a DataSource 3.x

It is only possible to recover a DataSource 3.x if it was migrated with export. This allows the objects DataSource 3.x (R3TR ISFS), mapping

(R3TR ISMP), and transfer structure (R3TR ISTS) to recover the same

status as they had before the migration.

During the recovery the DataSource (R3TR RSDS) is deleted. The system

tries to retain the PSA. This is, however, not possible if the PSA was

initially generated for the DataSource because either there was no

active transfer structure for DataSource 3.x or it was loaded using

IDoc.

The dependent objects transformation (R3TR TRFN), Data transfer process

(R3TR DTPA), and InfoPackage (R3TR ISIP) are retained. If you want to

delete them, you must do this manually.

goto RSA5, re-install the 3.x datasource.

It is impossible to downgrade 7.0 datasource back to 3.5

If you had used "With Export" while migrating to 7.0 then you can go to transaction RSDS.

Give your datasource name and source sytem and ctrlshiftF4 or

Datasource menu -

>Restore 3.X datasource.

Hi,

As per my understanding, Its always possible to migrate a data source from 3.x system to higher version, but the vice versa is not possible.

Cheers...
