Error during automatic settlement rule creation

Hi Gurus,

For the investment project, I maintained as follows, first level WBSE - Only planning element - no settlement. 2nd level WBSE - settled to AuCs. For level three & below settled to Superior WBSE. I had created the Settlement type with '5'. When I am executing CJB2 to create the Settlement rules automatically, I am getting the following error message for level 3 & below WBSE.

Enter a valid value for the settlement type :

Message no. KD199

Diagnosis

The system found a settlement type settlement type in the settlement rule which either does not exist or is unsuitable for the sender.

Procedure

If possible, enter a suitable settlement rule. Remember that the rules for preliminary settlement ("PRE") of capital investment measures are different from those for period settlement ("PER") of other settlement senders. Periodic settlement only makes sense for capital investment measures. They must not have any "PER" rules.

To enter an investment profile (in the control data for an order or WBS element) or to remove it. However, first delete the PER or PRE rules (in the settlement rule) and er zu in internal orders, you can first change the investment profile and then adapt the rules before you save.

Message no. ORB509

Diagnosis

Errors occurred during the check on settlement receivers.

Check whether the:

Specific receiver Account assignment e actually exists

Settlement profile Z7 permits account assignment to the specified receiver

can anyone help me where I am making mistake or what is the procedure to be adopted for such scenario.

somebody else also had discussed the same issue in this forum but there is no answer for this.

Hi Vinod,

Can you please explain me clearly the exact requirement on why to settle level 3 and below WBS Elements to Top level WBSE. Why are you trying to settle 2ns level WBSE to AUC. You can directly Book actuals at 3rd level WBSEs and then settle to Auc ??

If your requirement is different can you please explain me clearly ??

Hi Hari,

The business requirement is to create various WBSE in level 2 and each level -2 WBSE is to be settled to a separate asset. As this level 2 WBSE is to be settled to an asset all the hierarchially below level WBSE costs are to be settled to the level -2 wbse so that finally it can be settled to an asset. Hence, i maintained the settlement strategy as '5' to settle it to Superior wbse and with an assumption that AuC at level -2 will generate a settlement rule for Fixed asset. Now, i am facing with the error as stated above.

Chk your settlement profile. Does it allow settlement to WBS element as valid receiver? I guess thats what the problem is.

Hi Sarang,

I have created a Settlement profile with WBS as the Receiver and assigned this profile with the Project profile as well as the Settlement strategy.

Hello Vinod,

Is the Investment profile still exsisting for level-3? If yes then as soon as you REL the project an AUC will be created at level 3 WBS also. So it will not allow to settle to top WBS, because ASUC is already created.

Use substitution to remove Investment profile from level 3 and below, so that no Investment profile is removed from 3rd level of WBS and non AUC is created. Then you can run CJB2 to settle that WBS against superior WBS.

As such I have not assigned the Investment profile in the Proj. profile and the assignment is manually done only for level -2 WBSE.

When i execute CJB2, I am entering the project definition only and i assume there is no problem with this.

Hi,

Pls check the settlement strategy which you are using for WBS. I guess you have defined the NW strategy to WBS. For WBS, the strategy includes 4 options: Responsible CC, Requesting CC, Profitability segement and Copy rule from superior object. If you select copy rule from superior WBS, you should define settlement rule at the highest WBS and then the same rule can be transferred to below hierarchy.

I believe you have to create settlement rules for settling to it's superior WBS. Else you can try using some BDC program.

Hi Raghu,

Thanks for your mail. In Standard SAP as you had mentioned only 4 options are available but you can configure the 5th strategy through a note which SAP has provided as a solution. This helps to settle it to a Superior WBS and as such I have done this and not used the NW strategy.

Try the below:

Instead of entering the project definition in CJB2 enter the level 3 WBS and see if the 5th strategy is working OK. This should create the rule to settle to it's parent WBS which is level 2.

Problem could be you entering the project definition for rule creation. I think rules for level 3 would be created OK but when it come to creating rule on level 2 WBS it conflicts with the invstment profile where the settlement should happed to AUC but system is agian trying to create a additional rule to settle it level 1 WBS.

You should be OK if you enter the level 2 WBS in the selection screen of CJB2 with hierarchy.
