Folks,
My customer is already using MM and wants to look into SRM functionalities. Does anyone have an overview showing advantages and disadvantages of both and comparison in costs between both? I've checked the WIKI but could not find any related material.

Normally, SRM and MM co-exist in one landscape since both systems have their strengths and uses. My suggestion is to think of SRM as a complement to MM, not a replacement.
To better leverage SRM, I suggest you get some quality consulting - you will need to understand business needs, map them to solution strengths, define the implementation roadmap, etc. It's a project
A good reference point to start with will be SAP documents on Service Marketplace regarding the latest and greatest SRM version - 7.0:
