Material coverage

Dear experts,

Is their any report to check for how much days the existing stock can last for.

Suppose, there is a commonly used material "A" with stock 500 Kgs. MRP run is carried out for the month. Based on the requirement generated, I want to know how much days this stock will last for so that the purchase department can act accordingly.

What are the settings I will have to make for this and which transaction can be used for checking this?

Regards,

Prashant

Hi

For check the coverage of the material:
\

Go to MD06

Enter the MATERIAL andPLANT name

you can see the reqmt/ stock list of the material

click -Go to material overview list ( like a mountain icon)

you next move to next screen

there you can find the column name

1. stck ds

- The days' supply displays the number of days that a material will cover if only current plant stock is taken into account.

( you can use this column if you only consider the stock )

2. 1st rsd

- you can use this coulmn if you include the reciept to calculate the coverage

3. 2nd rst

Dear PP expert,

Thanks for the reply. I understood how it can be checked in MD06. But is there any configuration setting for this? If yes pl. tell the details how it is to be defined.

I have checked for two of the materials for which the output in MD06 is as follows:

Material - 1000002

Information about the material -

CurrentStock = 47,751.730 Kg, firmed requirement = 10, dependent requirement for the month = 5,914.224

MD06 output is

Supply = 620.0-, 1st RDS = 999.9, 2nd RDS = 999.9

Material 1000581

Information about the material -

CurrentStock - 2000 Kg, dependent requirement for the month = 70,656.657

MD06 output is

Supply = 2.0-, 1st RDS = 2.0-, 2nd RDS = 2.0-

What is the meaning of this. How is system calculating 620 days or 2 days and what is the meaning of the negative sign?

HI,

The days' supply displays the number of days that a material will cover if only current plant

stock is taken into account.

The receipt days' supply indicates how many days a material will last. The system takes current plant stock and specific, predefined receipts into account when calculating the receipt days' supply.

You can define two receipt days' supplies.This enables you to instruct the system to take the less binding receipt elements into account for the first receipt days' supply, and to take only the binding receipt elements (such as production orders and shipping notifications) into account for the second days' supply.

Hi,

1. check how the Stock Days' Supply Without Receipts is calculating in sap :

Stock = 240 pcs

1st day: Requirement for 90 pcs => Stock = 150 pcs

2nd day: Requirement for 70 pcs => Stock = 80 pcs

3rd day: Requirement for 100 pcs => Shortage

Range of coverage = 3 workdays minus 1 + 80/100

= 2 + 0,8

= 2,8

2. You need to do the customize For you plant which are all the receipt you include in the cals :

SPRO - PRODUCTION -MRP - EVALUATION - Define Receipt Elements for Receipt Days' Supply

3. check how the First Receipt Days' Supply is calculating in sap :

Stock = 240 pcs

Purchase orders are included in the days' supply, but not purchase requisitions

1st day: Purchase order for 50 pcs => Stock = 290 pcs

Requirement for 90 pcs => Stock = 200 pcs

2nd day: Purchase requisition for 80 pcs => Stock = 200 pcs (remains)

Requirement for 120 pcs => Stock = 80 pcs

3rd day: Requirement for 100 pcs => Shortage

Range of coverage = 3 workdays minus 1 + 80/100

= 2 + 0,8

= 2,8

Dear Raj,

I am very happy for the detailing done in both of your replies. I perfectly understood the system calculation. However, I am not getting the results as required or as described by you. Refer my earlier reply in this same ticket. I am getting the output as described above. Can you pl. tell me if there is any setting to be done for the system to calculate in the manner described by you because my requirement is exactly the same as given by you in the example.

Pl. revert back.

This is called Range of coverage in SAP.

Coverage profile and Time profile needs to be customised and maintained in materials master for this.

U will find them as Day of Supply and First day of supply and second day of supply in MD07.
