Hi

I tried to install HANA 2.0 rev 31 on Open SUSE LEAP 15. The installation failed, and I just like to know if anyone has manage to install it on this SUSE version.

I have it installed and it works

the only error I had bocame (first test installation) was the access rights for installation directories, and after it has been corrected, the setup runs without problems.

When the installation failed, what "error messages" did you have?

It is better to start the installation with hxe.tgz and hxexsa.tgz only. (Extract both and start setup_hxe.sh)

This installs the DB, XSA and WebIDE, then do necessary configuration and test it.

Then install the component you need (extract eml.tgz, hsa.tgz, apl.tgz, shine.tgz, ...)

...

one more thing, installing sdi.tgz only when you need it, and in the end after you finish / configure / test other component installation.

Hello Petter,

as you have installed the HXE for more than 12 month ago on leap 15, I´d like to ask you the question about stability of this setup.

Because I have also choosen openSuse Leap 15 for HXE and I face often issues with stability. System hanging for several minutes, activation of calculation views takes ages to start. It does not seems to me that the hardware (2 xeon, 40 GB RAM) are the source of this. Would you be so kind and share your experience?

Many thanks

Dio.

I had done a few installs on different versions of openLEAP 15.x. The newest on 15.2 latest beta. There are several things to make sure you get a good install and a well running HX.

- you need to install some extra libs by `zypper in ...`

- Never use root directly for installs. Either the "normal" user when you install the OS. use `sudo ./install.sh` etc. Later on when the base packages have been installed do it with the use created when installing the base package, e.g. the `hxeadm` user.

- you must disable transparent huge pages, otherwise the system might spent several minutes now and then reorganizing memory.

Hi Ayman

Thanks for sharing your experience. I installed it on vmware and unfortunately i deleted the image after the error. But I can give it a try one more time. I downloaded all the packages and unzipped those in the same folder and ran the installation with all the component. Did you also included all the components ?

Thanks for the tips. I have earlier installed the component in separate order, but I see that it's supported to merge the installation files and do it in one run. But maybe this is not the best way to do it. I can try again and run the installation in steps. Thanks for your help 🙂
