Please give me the architecture of the BO with BI queries and how to use BI queries as a source for the BO.

As mentioned, Ingo's bogs are a greate resource - he has examples that walk you thru the whole process. You can buidl universes directly on InfoCubes which could be an option depending on what you are doing - several limitations (Ingo covers them), which is why using Bex queries as the basis for universes is recommended. Crysatl can access quereis/cubes/dso directly without going thru a universe.

There are many new things happening with BW - BOBJ integrtion. Thomas Zurek's blogs talk about using Data Federator to directly access the infocubes DB tables, providing a big gain in performance (some limitations there as well). And I just saw in the doc for the upcoming Xclesius SP2 release a new Netweaver BI data connection, which will allow you to create Xcelsius dashborads that directly access BW without having to create universes and QaaWS/Live Office. Might need to at latest SP of EHP1 for this, not sure.

Ingo has a book that just came out on SAP Pess that covers the topic too.

Hi Viral,

In two words, BO (reporting) is linked to BW between the BEX query and the Universe in BO.

The BEX query need to contian all the caracteristics of the cubes as the universes will handle them eventhough you will not be able to run it in BEX. As you know the query can hold a limit of 50 characteristics in the rows so I suggest you to put them all as free characteristics.

Once in the Universe Designer you need to create a connection per BEX query. Note the the query need to be flagged as 'Release for OLE DB for OLAP' for the Universe Designer to view it. Once the connection is created you will get all the characteristics of the query and ready to play in WEBI!

If this is for Xcelsius you need to create a Wed service before reading data in Xcelsius.
