SAP LOCALHOST setting

Good morning all. We have setup a MSCS clustering solution, and there is a bit of confusion as to whether the LOCALHOST settings should be the virtual name or the logical name of the server.

Can anyone provide some guidance as to the settings we should be using in this case...my assumption is that we would want to provide the virtual name to prevent any confusion or disconnects during failover.

Hi,

Yes your assumption is correct. In case of MSCS clustered setup, you have to use your virtual host as the SAPLOCALHOST in the environment variables and SAP profiles. You also have to use the paramter SAPLOCALHOSTFULL = <virtualname of server.full domain name>
