Work Status Settings u2013 Base Hierarchy field

Does anyone have experience with BPC 7.0 work status settings? How does the Base Hierarchy field work? I have three hierarchies in the Entity dimension - some members are unique to each hierarchy. Is there anyway to set up work status to lock all three hierarchies?
