Hi All,
I am using Strategy 50, I need to create one process order against multiple Sales Orders. Please guide me how can I achieve this scenario using SAP.
Best Regards,
Shah
Yea!! You guys are right..Actually i was facing this scenario more often being business practice in different industries to minimize their production cost..i think i should write to SAP to add process order reference on Sales Order 😛 to track process order to achieve 1:m relationship for tracking...Thanks all i m closing this thread now.

What you described is standard ERP.
If you consider using an Industry Extension to ERP, like Discrete Industries Mill Products, there are additional possibilities.
Scenario 1: Trimming/Deckling through APO Trim Optimization Interface
In this scenario you let MRP (or better to say the APO planning run) create planned orders. These orders are read from an external optimizer and a "combined production order", a so called trim order is created from the external system through the T.O.I BAPI. This order delivers to multiple MTO sales orders with one production order. Note that this is not a process, but a production order. You will need an ERP with Industry Extension Mill Products to be able to process such orders.

Scenario 2: Order Combination e.g. to reduce set-up times
In this scenario, you can select sales orders, process orders/production orders and planned orders and trigger creation of a combined orders. Again this combined order is able to deliver against multiple MTO sales orders.
You can either combine operations, or complete orders - but there are certain restrictions which orders you can combine. For details pls see the online documentation.

Hi stefan,
I activated the said business function but i m came accross two problems
- 1 - Material Masters created before activation were not accessible on all transactions except MM01,MM02 and MM03...but after fetching them on these screens and extending a view or two make them accessible to all T-codes.
-2- Target Cost on Cost Analysis report of Process order is zero for the material which are created after activating the business function. Old materials are working fine....Please guide me through what could be the possible reasons of that...I am simply creating process order without using Combined Order feature and facing this issue.
Please guide.
Best regards,
Hasnain

Okay i got it...you mean activating business function using SWF5..i have only one concern...activating BF effects standard functionality also or it just simple adds few new nodes??

Hej,
an industry extension is somewhat of a differnt magnitude than a normal business function. With ERP 6.0 (or ERP 2005 at that time) we retrofitted the formerly modifying industry add-ons back into ERP.
As we wanted to make sure that this does not affect customers that did not want to suddenly get all industry solution with the next release, we were using the switch framework to make it possible to activate the solution for those who want it.
If you consider to activate, please keep in mind that you can only activate one industry extension. So, if you activate one, you decide somewhat against the other industry extensions.
Also, I suggest to try this first in a sandbox, because - like with the installation of the add-ons in former times - there is no "undo" button.

Stefan
Stefan,
Do u mean industry specific solution of SAP or extensions in standard ERP? I mean how can i activate this feature in standard ERP...Please do me a favor by elaborating it.
Thanks,
Shah

Thanks alot... I thought there might be any work around to this scenario...In case it is the business practice what would u suggest the work around to it...the purpose here is tracking of process order with reference to sales order...

Shah,
When you say that you want to track Process order based on Sales order, then MTO scenario suites better and you can have only 1:1 Relation between sales order and production order.

Dear,
In MTO it is not possible to create only one planned or production / process order for different sales orders. In strategy 50 you can plan the demand management in MD61 give here the input quantity say 100. then Fg planned order will not be convert in to process order until and unless you get the sales order. After sales order you can convert the planned order to Process order but if 4 sales order are there then you will get 4 orders.
Hope clear to you.

Hi
In MTO case for different SO we can not combine the req and make single Process order. Each SO will be considered as separate Segment for Planning
