Products Required to Design Reports and Use Reports Via In-Process RAS

I'm looking to understand which products are required for what I'm looking to accomplish.

I have numerous reports that were built in an earlier version of Crystal Desktop. Within code, logic was employed to assemble these reports using RDC.

Given a new version of the in-process RAS is available in the CR Developer for Visual Studio, I am wondering a couple of things:

1. What is the desktop equivalent now? Is it CR 2016?

2. Is there any restriction on which reports can be worked with via the in-process RAS? For example, if one of the old reports was used in the process?

My testing thus far does show an issue, but I do not want to take anything for granted. Our in-process logic combined numerous reports into an extensive document. I am hoping with the in-process RAS and old reports (or newly designed ones) the same will be possible.
