Products Required to Design Reports and Use Reports Via In-Process RAS

I'm looking to understand which products are required for what I'm looking to accomplish.

I have numerous reports that were built in an earlier version of Crystal Desktop. Within code, logic was employed to assemble these reports using RDC.

Given a new version of the in-process RAS is available in the CR Developer for Visual Studio, I am wondering a couple of things:

1. What is the desktop equivalent now? Is it CR 2016?

2. Is there any restriction on which reports can be worked with via the in-process RAS? For example, if one of the old reports was used in the process?

My testing thus far does show an issue, but I do not want to take anything for granted. Our in-process logic combined numerous reports into an extensive document. I am hoping with the in-process RAS and old reports (or newly designed ones) the same will be possible.

1. Yes, it's Crystal 2016.

2. It depends on what version of Crystal the old reports were written in. There were MAJOR changes to the internal structure of the .rpt file with Crystal 9. So, if they were create with an earlier version than 9, they will have to be upgraded. There are some tricks to this, so let me know if this is your situation.
