Hi,
Lots of heapdump, javacore and snap files are getting generated in server directory. The exact path of the files are (/usr/sap/<SID>/JC01/j2ee/cluster/server0).
The size of these file are quite big and because of this, /usr/sap/<SID> fills very rapidally. We used to delete thses files with regular frequency to keep our system running. These files looks like ...
-rw-rr 1 ep1adm sapsys 2509684 Jun 03 17:22 Snap0001.20090603.172213.2429064.trc
-rw-rr 1 ep1adm sapsys 5244550 Jun 03 17:23 javacore.20090603.172213.2429064.txt
-rw-rr 1 ep1adm sapsys 2321268 Jun 04 14:46 Snap0001.20090604.144622.2924610.trc
-rw-rr 1 ep1adm sapsys 2321268 Jun 04 14:46 Snap0002.20090604.144627.2924610.trc
-rw-rr 1 ep1adm sapsys 2321268 Jun 04 14:46 Snap0003.20090604.144627.2924610.trc
-rw-rr 1 ep1adm sapsys 20850651 Jun 04 15:34 javacore.20090604.150942.2924614.txt
-rw-rr 1 ep1adm sapsys 758915341 Jun 04 18:56 heapdump.20090604.185528.2277626.phd
Now my queries are
1) What is cause behind the generation of these files?
2) What are parameters which governs the size of these files?
3) Suggestions to reduce the generation as well as size of these files.
Try to search a lot and could not get enough material and replies which satisfies me.
So looking for your help here.
With Regards,
Saurabh
Hi,
I have got the answers.
These files are getting generated due to frequent crashes of JVM and can be avoided by upgrading the JVM version and implementing the proper settings for BI JAVA.
Thanks a lot for all who shows the interest in this thread.
With Regards,
Saurabh

Hi,
Hi,
Now my queries are
1) What is cause behind the generation of these files?
These file are generated due to the trace level that you have set in your system for the Java. All the action performed in the JAVA is recorded in these files.
2) What are parameters which governs the size of these files?
Goto Visual Admin and then ServerNode then services then Log Configurator from here you can enable more trace as per your requirment.
3) Suggestions to reduce the generation as well as size of these files.
If you want you can reduce the trace in the Log Configuration.

Hi Saurabh,
This could be due to memory leaks
1. Did you check default trace for any memory out errors.
2. Make sure you have right and latest version JAVA
3. Did you activate any trace files and forgot to deactivate them. Try to reset all trace files default.
Thank You,
Praveen
