I have a time serie which I want to display on a line chart. For several years, I have monthly data. Data for the next 5 years is forecast, but on an annual basis. In excel, I show the historical monthly data on the graph and, at the end of the line, I add the annual forecast data for 5 years. I then make the scale of the x axis annual so that labels only show years. I declare the major unites as years and the minor units as months. That allows me to show the annual data correctly spaced out on the graph, together with the monthly data.
I don't seem to be able to do this in xcelsius. Can I have your advice please?

So you want the gap between the last month entry to the forecast annual entries to be like this:
J F M A M J J A S O N D 2010 2011
You can add blank rows/columns in the data series but that then breaks the line links between the data points. Don't think you can do it.

Use a combination chart
Series 1: Monthly
Values (Y): Select the values under month
Series 2: Act 2009
Values (Y): Select the value under 2009 along with first 12 blank spaces
Series 3: FY 2010
Values (Y): Select the value under 2010 along with first 13 blank spaces
Series 4: FY 2011
Values (Y): Select the value under 2011 along with first 14 blank spaces
Category Labels (X): Select cells J to 2011

I need to try this out Anil, but I think I will still have a couple of problems. First, I don't see how the spacing works as it stands in your message. I basically have each year showing in each slot after the monthly data. I need to add many more spaces I think.
Also, for the x-axis labels, I need to have years only: there are about 250 monthly data points bebore the annual forecasts so I really need to avoid taking all the labels. I am still unsure how to do this (have all teh data points showing but only showing full year labels). I think thta's me having a mental block.
Anil, thanks a lot for this. It certainly is a part workaround, perhaps even a full one if I can work out the above.
