ARFC2 on NW 7.10 SP7 ?

I just found a tutorial for NW 7.11 about ARFC2.

Is that available for NW 7.10 SP7 as well? The tutorial again describes only jar libraries, what DCs I have to use if that is available on 7.10? I have to use DCs and SCs (as intended by SAP?).

I have [problems using SAP Enterprise Connector|SAP Enterprise Connector in development component; (creates deprecated code on NWDS 7.10 SP7 Patch 3) and looking for an alternative.
