Store returns to DC with a goods movement done first

Hi!

I would like to implement a process where store return is started by posting a goods movement with automatic returns PO created. That would need to move goods in to transit. From PO a returns delivery would be created, which would receive stock in transit in to the DC stock.

I need to get stock in transit when posting a movement with 161. I will copy it, but what defines for a movement type that goods are posted in to the stock in transit?

It seems that it is not possible to start store to warehouse return with a material document. Not clear why vendor return and warehouse return is not done same way. One can start with a material document and have a PO created automatically, but other have to start with a STO and material document should be posted for it.

We will have a workaround with BAPI's.

Just checked it. If you use advance return management it works like I described. 161 post stock into stock in transit. In case of regular STO (PO type UB) and assigning to it return deliver that uses 161 movement type we get error that no quantity/value string can be determined for movement. I assume that adjusting it a bit in copy control would be enough to achieve this functionality.

Hope it clears the topic.

Best,

Maciej

MB5T only reads STO history to calculate. Stock in Transit is only created when you use a transfer posting from one plant to a different plant. 161 does not create any stock in transit (to the answer of your question, check the difference between movement type 351 and 161). See note 489543 - Consulting: Return delivery for stock transport order for more details about the scenario.

Hi Maris,

It could be standard functionality to be checked. Create STO but on item level mark checkbox return. In this case delivery should be determined from Spro -> MM -> Returns Order -> Store Return/ Return Site to Site. 161 movement type is posted and stock is in transit. If you activate enhanced store returns inbound delivery is created at receiving site (output for Outbound delivery SPED). Otherwise standard 101 with migo.

Let me know if it works.

Best regards,

Maciej

Thank you!

I have been thinking about this and there seems to be difference between when you post goods movement with 161 directly and have a returns PO created automatically or when you have a returns STO and do 101 movement type, which is turned by the system to 161.

With direct 161 posting quantity is removed from stock, but only transaction showing SIT is MB5T, because there it is somehow dynamically calculated instead of reading from tables.

There is no configuration to add SIT posting for any movement type, this could be part of the program. If you want to understand, then you've to check that how the system determine SIT for STO deliveries. Example : Two steps movement (351, 641).
